Courses in The Bowen Technique

The College of Bowen Studies Training Course format provides students with in-depth tuition, hands-on supervision and ample time and opportunity for detailed study of the Bowen Technique. Our courses are all highly practical and very ‘hands-on’. Class sizes are deliberately kept small to ensure you receive a high level of teacher supervision whilst you practise the moves with your fellow students.

Between courses, teachers and office staff are available for help and advice. The course is spread over a minimum period of nine months, although you can take longer if you wish. There are five modules, all of which must be completed. We encourage you to complete the course at a pace that suits you to ensure you gain maximum skills and confidence. Each module can be taken with any teacher in any venue that suits you. While the entire course of study could be completed in a minimum of nine months, this is dependent upon availability of dates and venues.

Module Four. With extensive practise between courses your understanding of the Bowen Technique is developing substantially. By this stage you will have learnt a significant amount and Module Four will once again consolidate your learning. Our approach to teaching is largely practical but we also innovatively combine theory and anatomy throughout the courses. You will be in the process of preparing your second set of 10 case histories. By this stage you will notice how much your ability to take notes has developed – your client records will be more succinct and thorough and you will derive great satisfaction from the process! .

Part Five will significantly deepen your understanding of the Bowen Technique. You also get the opportunity to observe and practise all of the moves.

You submit another set of 10 case histories (30 treatments) and these receive a written evaluation and form part of your final assessment.

Pre-Requisites

Although there is no entry-level requirement for attending the course, a good grounding in anatomy would be useful. The course is taught referring to muscles and their Latin names. If you would like to do some optional pre-course reading, we can recommend any of the book titles from the ‘Trail Guide to the Body’ series by Andrew Biel.

If you prefer to work from a PC or Mac there is superb 3D anatomy software. For a free trial go to www.primalpictures.com

Username: anatomy Password: Bowen

This software is easy to use and brings the body to life. For specific Bowen reading we suggest The Bowen Technique and Bowen Unravelled, both by Julian Baker.
