Premier Spirit of Bowen Awards Submission Criteria

There are over 7000 Bowen Therapists in the UK and Europe. Let’s celebrate their local and national efforts to help people feel healthy and well. All nominees are welcome from across all Bowen education establishments. Please see the elements we are looking for in each award category in the statements below.


Student of the year award (Across colleges)
Deciding to embark on Bowen Training is a decision that is often life-changing. This award goes to the person that the tutors agree have given an outstanding contribution to their learning process and have been excellent in all elements of their training program. They are organised, grounded, have reflected intelligent questioning processes throughout their training and have done this with motivation, application and a smile on their face. They have also been aware of colleagues on courses, given positive and constructive input at all times and excelled in assessments with independent study.

Outstanding New Bowen Practitioner Award
This award goes to the practitioner who has "burst" onto the scenes in the last 2 years. They are driven and focused, establishing a busy practice in a short space of time. They have networked effectively and brought colleagues together to share learning and knowledge. They have a "can-do" approach that have inspired clients, colleagues and friends alike.

Bowen Therapist Excellence Award
A longstanding contribution to their local community for five years or more. Regular attenders of CPD workshops to gain new working knowledge and application. Strong reputation for networking and organising Bowen related events for their region. Contributed in a constructive manner on social media and helps colleagues to develop themselves and their clinics. Regularly seeing 30 clients a week or more. This therapist stands out amongst the local Bowen therapists as the regional leader and inspiration and may possibly have developed a larger clinical team and delivery, running a larger business operation.

Bowen Technique Tutor Award
This award will run by a voting mechanism online , date to be announced. This category is looking for the tutor who has gone over and beyond their job description. Attentative both in class and in all communications during training, they have the student's interests at heart and are dedicated to ensuring their success in assessments and ongoing learning as a practitioner. They are compassionate, inspiring, interesting and excellent at demonstrating the work in an accessible and applicable way. They have a reputation for being organised and responsive, supportive and present.

Client Testimonial Award
Nominated by the client themselves or a clinic. The most improved and interesting story from the client's perspective, either a short film or written.

Lifetime Achievement Award
This award goes to the individual who has tirelessly worked on behalf of the Bowen Technique over 20 years or more. They are publicly recognised internationally and have contributed to publications, journals, research and conferences to assist the recognition of the work in the public eye. They are inspiring, eclectic and driven and have moved the body of work forwards in the face of challenge and adversity. They have rallied groups together and reached large audiences to ensure the work's progress now and in year's to come.

Submission and Shortlist Dates

The below are dates fixed, please take note.

The judging panel will be a neutral group of 6 professionals in the field of Complementary Healthcare and the Bowen Technique who will not be entering the awards in any capacity.

Final Submission Date by post or email to CBS, Spirit of Bowen Awards, 127 Deerfin Rd, Ballymena, County Antrim, BT42 4HR.

FRIDAY 30th JUNE 2017

Shortlist Announcement Date on and social media will be Friday 21st July 2017.

Entering yourself or a colleague for the Premier Spirit of Bowen Awards couldn't be easier and here's how it's done.

How to enter?
Step 1:
Decide which award category you would to enter (see the opposite column).

Step 2:
Thoroughly read the Terms and Conditions (below) and the category you are applying for. There is specific criteria for each award category. Please ensure that the criteria are adhered to in order to ensure you quality for entry.

Step 3:
Download and complete the Entry Form (click on the button below to download the interactive PDF) and post to the address above.

Please note postal entries must be received by the Friday 30th June 2017.

Terms and Conditions

  1. Entries will only be considered if they meet the criteria specified for the relevant award category on the application form.
  2. Entries open from 30th May 2017 Any entries received prior to this date will be held and submitted to the judges after the opening date.
  3. The closing date is Friday 30 June, 2017. Entries received after this date will not be accepted.
  4. One of the benefits of the Spirit of Bowen Awards is the potential for members to learn from each experiences’. The organisers therefore reserve the right to use information relating to short-listed entries for publicity and educational purposes.
  5. The judges’ decisions are final.
  6. As part of the Spirit of Bowen Awards, the winners must be prepared to accept their award in person at the organiser’s request at the Nottingham Belfry hotel on Saturday 23rd September 2017. (Bowen 2017 Conference)
  7. The organisers reserve the right to change the venue and date for the Spirit of Bowen Awards ceremony entirely at their discretion.
  8. Award winners must agree to have their names, photographs and information published, in print and online. If you are nominating someone for an award, please check they are happy to be put forward for a Spirit of Bowen Award and that they understand and accept these Terms and Conditions.
